I had a similar experience with an Edelbrock cam. After only 2500 miles it
wiped a cam lobe. Close inpection revealed very poor metalurgy (excessive
porosity) which had been covered up by the original dry lube applied by
Edelbrock. It sounds like quality control on camshafts is less than
adequate.
