Tiger list,

A odd noise was coming from my 65 Tiger's left rear wheel. Upon inspection,
I found the top return spring (the one with continuous winding and hooks on
each end) was broken and in pieces. This explained the noise.

The broken spring was apparently mounted incorrectly in front of the shoe,
there are wear marks on from where the drum was rubbing against it. I
checked the other side, which was installed correctly, behind the shoe.

Before I call SS (which lists the replacement part with a "inquire"
message), what is the general availability and price for this part?
Are there any donors available?

I was also reading the SS catalog in detail (it's quality reading and has
found a special place in my "library"). What is the validity of using the
5/16" aluminum wheel spacers? I am running aftermarket wheels, 8 spoke
Western aluminum (minilite look alike), which apparently have the correct
offset. Any thoughts will be appreciated.
I would certainly hate losing my rear wheels while driving.
