A couple of nights ago, during a bout of insomnia, I was channel surfing
and stumbled upon something called "The History of Rock-n-Roll". The
particular episode was covering the post-Beatles "British Invasion", and
how a record company could best publisize the "Animals" upcoming visit
to New York.
I was just about to change channels, when some elderly ex-PR person was
interviewed and said that she had the idea that the band should ride
from the airport to their hotel via british sports cars.
The camera cut to an old B&W film showing each of the 5 members of the
band, stepping right from the airliner into 5 brand new, top down Mk 1
Tigers! There was a couple of minutes of footage showing the caravan
crossing the Brooklyn bridge, going down a NY street, and finally
pulling up to the hotel.
The film was grainy, but it was cool period footage.
