I am doing a ground up restoration, and purchased my Tiger trim clips
from Curt.  

They are made of plastic, and hold the SS trim off of the paint just a
hair.   My body man of 35 plus years, he will not tell me how long
although he is 64 and only does custom cars, likes them as the SS trim
does not scratch the paint, and the dirt does not build up behind the
trim pieces.

Of course if you want original, go for it.
