Cecil,

I hope you have read about the cautions about plastic housed gano
filters slipping out of the hoses because of the lack of lips.  The
brass ones have some lip, but not really substantial.

One idea passed around is to remove the filter screen package and put a
loop behind it of stainless wire.  Then put it into the radiator inlet
and push the hose over it, to clamp o the radiator fitting.  Pull the
hose and fish the unit out for cleaning.  Of course that's because you
have an aluminum radiator.

I am going to have that outer ring put inside the brass inlet, with a
little silver solder to hold it down, then use the stock little screws
to remove/replace the screen pack for cleaning.  This makes cleaning as
easy as taking off a hose clamp and some tiny screws, and eliminates any
chance of blowing it apart.

You do loose the ability to look through the plastic body to see the
crud, but I could never see through the anti-freeze, anyway.
