While Ziebart may have extended the life of many cars, it may have been
equally responsible for an early demise of others. The problem occurs
when the Ziebart dies out a looses its resiliency and begins to crack
and lift from the underlying metal. These voids trap moisture and
promote serious oxidation action. I have a 30 year old Land Rover that
was Ziebarted when new by the owner who was also the dealer. These
trucks were very prone to frame rust and no doubt Ziebart preserved the
frame during the early part of its life. Now, however, the Ziebart is
flaking off and if were not for the fact that this truck has only 18,000
dry, original miles, I'm sure it would be in the great rust heap in the
sky. I prefer a softer wax, self healing type coating such as Waxoyl
(sp?). My $.02
