Dave,

That is a neat trick. But, some people want to set their timing at
full-in advance of 28-29 degrees, and let it idle where it want's too,
and others want to check their cam timing (valve lift max. crank angle),
or set the valve lash at the proper full closed, so they need most of
the tape.
