5-Way Cooling?

Steve & Scott,
    What happened to the vaunted 5-bladed Volvo fan solution? There was a
lot of buzz about that adaptation on this site a year or so back. Didn't
rate a Walter's mention, though.
I was told by the hardware guy when I was buying some ceiling fans that the
asymetrical 5-blade design moved much more air than the 4-blade. And it is
true that all the current ceiling fans have 5 blades, while the earlier ones
were all 4 blades. Does this apply to auto fan blades? Is an old Volvo junk
fan no longer the way to go???
