John,
Since Mark is from Vermont (VT) you can check http://www.MapQuest.com
and find a State route 100 intersecting US 89 about half-way between
South Burlington and Montpelier. It runs thru the charming boroughs of
Morrisville, Stowe (ski country?), Fasville and Warren.
Looks like an ideal small back road for hankying and pankying, with a
few towns for a cool one. {9->
