The real solution to this issue is the application of a ceramic thermal
barrier such as Cermakrome. This material looks similar to chrome without any
of the disadvantages (discoloration) of chrome. It may also be applied in a
black or cast iron look.
Cermakrome provides a 1300 degree thermal barrier and when teamed with MCS
(another thermal barrier rated at 2000 degrees) you can expect a 25 % or
greater reduction in under hood temps. If the whole exhaust system is done
you also reduce the cab temp. And yes, you will see an increase in
performance though how much is not predictable.
