Stan,
       You would only compromise the cars value as in downward.  There is 
nothing wrong with the Lucas electrical systems in most English cars prior to 
around 1969.  It's when an owner decides to add components to existing 
circuits that the problems begin.  The original harness does exactly what 
Rootes designed it to do but that's about all!  
       It was never intended to support an "Eight-Track" or a blaster stereo 
system or an electric shaver, so the answer is to install discrete secondary 
circuits to run your coffee pot, etc.  By the way, at many events I have 
surprised people by having my 12 volt RV coffeepot perking on the floors of 
both my Tiger and my Minx, which is rather nice in the morning before an SCCA 
race.
       I believe Steve still has a tech-tip I wrote about adding circuits to
