Here's another thought for you amateur thermodynamicists out there.  Suppose 
you put a "T" in your fuel line right before the carb inlet and ran a bleed 
line back to your fuel tank.  You would probably need a slight restriction in 
this line to maintain a sufficient pressure at the carb inlet.  The idea here 
would be to keep the fuel moving in the line, so that it can't heat up too 
much. Cooler fuel entereing the carb probably wouldn't hurt, either. The fuel 
in the tanks would serve as a heat sink. It probably would warm the tanks, but 
it would certainly help when you were suddenly stuck in traffic on a hot day.  
Perhaps add a solenoid valve to turn the return path on and off as needed?
