The owners book for my '98 Mystique says to use "Mercon Power Steering Fluid",
but I haven't seen that on the shelf at my local auto parts stores. The stuff
currently in the reservoir looks reddish, just like the Mercon ATF it says to
use for power steering fluid in my '98 Explorer.
The local L-M service manager says the PSF is some special juice that is only
available from Ford, but this doesn't sound too likely. A custom fluid for a
low end car? Are they serious?
Have any of you encountered this?
