Thanks to all who got into this free-for-all on Air Filters.

I just got off the telephone with K&N, who said they had two (now only
one!) of the E-2859 filters in stock. These are round filters, that they
say can be distorted into the oval shape. That sounds like fun.

I went out to the garage and measured mine. I have two filters, one that
came with the car, and a N.O.S. filter for the original filter housing
that In got off eBay for $40. They are not the same size.

I also measured the filter unit: (This is NOT the stock filter that came
with original Tigers, it is a cast aluminum piece that has TIGER cast
into the top)

   Filter Box                                  16 <    X    8 <   X
1 =
   Filter originally fitted                     16        X    8 <   X
1 =        Marked GUD    AG 364
   Filter N.O.S.                                15 =    X    8       X
1 =        Marked GUD    AG 364

It is interesting that these two GUD filters carry the same number cast
into the rubber surround, but have different dimensions.

So it looks like it can be reasonably said that the filter for the
original filter housing will fit this aftermarket aluminum piece. But it
is quite amazing how that = difference impacts on the appearance of the
filter housing: it just plain looks too small.

I dont want to go through this again, so the K&N is a good option. Keep
it clean and it will last for a lifetime! (so they say).

Thanks again, and thanks for the link to the Tigers United Forum. I
likely should have addressed this question there.

Rapidly getting up to speed!
