The real deal with things like fusible links is to protect the wiring itself from burning up in cases where a fault occurs BEFORE the element protected by fuse -- a fault there could take the entire amount of current and turn everything to cinders -- remember Lucas, Prince of Darkness -- lots of MG's and Triumph's (etc.) have gone that way -- and I'm sure, more than a Tiger or two. Minor collisions can set up exactly this scenario (and probably have). Tony McNulty |
