Hi David;
Unless you are running very high compression (over say 10.5:1 and up), a
turbo or supercharger, and are using very low octane fuel, you are
unlikely to encounter detonation.
On the other hand, it certainly doesn't hurt to polish off those valve
relief edges. It looks great before you button up the motor, and you can
fall asleep remembering the sight with a smile on your face!

Subject: Sharp edges in the combustion chamber
Hi again:
I was under the impression that sharp edges within the combustion
chamber could lead to detonation.
If this is true, would there be any point to 'easing' the edges of the
valve reliefs in the tops of a new set of pistons?
