You did not give us much detail about your weeping but you seem to
indicate that the pump is weeping.

Your options are many depending on your situation. You could buy a
rebuild kit for the pump or you could send it out for rebuild. You could
buy a replacement pump just like the original, they are available with
electronic switches that eliminate the points or there is a small electronic
pump, it looks like a cube with line connections, that a lot of people are
using.

Is it a good idea to move it somewhere other than over the exhaust?
This is a very good question. If your pump is in good shape with no weeping
or leaks there is nothing wrong with the original location. There is a lot
of heat at that location which IMO is a problem waiting to happen. I
replaced and moved my fuel pump to the well in the trunk similar to the MKII
set up. I also installed a small shutoff valve and a filter before the
pump plus I used bulkhead fittings to route the fuel line in and out of that
trunk well.

My fuel pump seems to have developed bit of a leak. More like weeping I
guess. Looks like the best option is just to replace it, as the connections
seem to be nice and tight.

What are my options these days?

Can you still get a replacement for the original?

Is it a good idea to move it somewhere other than over the exhaust?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott
