I believe you are correct asssuming Rootes put whatever
they had on hand when making the cars. Interesting the
chrome grill surround on mine was a MK II piece. It had
been nicely kerfed so the MK IA cross bars fit. Before
I knew better, I swapped the 'damaged' MK II surround for
a NOS MK IA surround. Joe Mazzei strikes again. Oh well
you live and learn.
I don't think Rootes could do too much with making the
top taller as that would require taller windows, etc.
Perhaps that just changed the arc of the bows. It wouldn't
take much to add 2 inches.
