it is very possible to pull the  spark plugs with out taking the engine out. 
What i would recomend is getting  a spark plug socket that has a hex on the 
outside so you are able to  put a wrench on the end. But otherwise if you dont 
have that,  it is  possible to use a rachet and regular socket.
