Sounds like a dirty connection in the high current part of the electrical
system - check the positive and negative battery terminals, the ground strap
connection on the chassis, and the connections at the starter solenoid (when
doing this last part make sure the battery is disconnected!). Also check the
ground strap from the chassis to the engine/transmission.

The other answer would be that your battery is dead and it can't supply more
than about the couple of amps it takes to run the fuel pump.
