I am running LED lamps and have done so for quite a while. I agree with
the recommendations of red in the rear and yellow in the front. I
replaced my flasher with an electronic flasher and have no problem with
the signal working correctly.
The distributor issue may be a problem if the shaft came out of the Oil
pump and is binding but most likely using some grease to center the
shaft and then rotate the distributor slightly while inserting the
distributor until the unit falls into place.
