I do believe that the energy in an elastic collision is inversely
proportional
to the total mass. a 2500 lb car hitting a 4000 truck = 6500 lbs of total
mass. The small car gets 6500/2500 or 2.6 while the truck gets
6500/4000 or 1.6. In other words the car gets 61.5% of the force of
the collison.
Do the math when a 50000 train engine hits a car. Not pretty.
Car 52000/2500=20.8 Train 52000/50000= 1.1 Car gets
94% pf the energy Train gets 6%.That why cars hit by trains
fare very poorly.
AAA guy is right, What counts is the protection package.
Or everyone should be driving Buick deuce and a quarter.
Weight 4000+ lbs and with the 425 V8 gets 8 mpg. With
the price of gas, no one can afford to drive one. Few drivers
means less polluton, more gas, and more room for my Tiger
