i like the early 289 cars, myself. more delicate beauty, and more balanced,
though the 427 was very surprising in that regard.
Best,
Ray

I guess there is always an original spec Kirkam 427? I personally ama big
fan of the 289 FIA cars.. brutish and agressive but a bit more delicate than
the 427 they spawned

well, i finally got to drive a real 427 s/c cobra last weekend.
    it isn't faster than light.
but light DOES shift toward the red spectrum as you begin to gain on it!!
pretty puzzling, though. third pulls like first. so does fourth.
forge the tach, you don't have time to read it; and besides the phone
poles are rushing by too fast....
now i just have to come up with 600k to get one.
wonder if my wife would mind sleeping in the trunk?

Hi Listers, having noted some varying opinions about Ole Carroll, yes
he
sure new how to make money, few did in the fifties and sixties.. They
used to
say the way to a small forture in racing was to start with a big
one..But now
with Nascar I guess that's not all true..anyway, I used to have an
early
GT350 in the 70's when the shelby club first started, most members were
do it
yourselfers and the car were very personalized, if you went to a show
you
didn't see 50 cars all alike, and you did not need tobe a millionaire
to
partake in club activeties, having recently bought my third Tiger I
rejoined
the club at a great price and then noted they did away with the news
letter
and magizine, and the price to attend the last nation meet was to much
for
me, I did not renew my membership, enough said...but the reason for
this
note was to mention an exibit at the Saratoga Auto Museum in NY, that
featured Shelby, the Ford Connection, this was written up in Autoweek,
jan
31, 2005...Tiger's were given mention and my car when owned by George
Izett
was on display..So I guess we can all decide as has been mentioned
before...but I must say the Tiger group seems to be much more connected
to
their cars than the newer Cobra/Shelby owners who are all about value,
investment etc. I hope the value holds, Clyde MK1A
