Original car #55 was the reason I purchased my car in 1967. I had seen in
race in Goleta at the Airport and fell in love with Sunbeam right then and
there, lol.

Now some thoughts on the steering ratio change. On the salt flats race car
when things start happening fast at speed, you want to have a very slow
steering. That's because out there the salt coefficient of friction is low
and a twitchy driver can and does incite the car to do loops or other
unexpected things resulting in fouled tighty white's. So I located any
number of steering ratio change devices and most are reasonable in price. So
I bought one and then found that it was reversible, and put it in line with
the steering shaft to the rack and pinion. Slowed it down by half. Another
ratios I think are available as well. No, I am not suggesting you do this
for your street car but for those who might want to experiment on a track
car, even cars not Sunbeams, this might be an alternative. I suspect that
there is more to this changed ratio rack that makes it a lot better than
just a ratio change also.

I applaud the 'road candy' rack change to make things better.

Good job!

mayf
