I put seats from a '75 in my Mk1 Spit, but the frame on the driver side
was broken and I had to do some welding.  I liked the HOundstooth, so I
got a pair of those covers from BPNW and found them very easy to
install.  But I made the mistake of not replacing the crumbling back
cushions, so in a few months I had to re-do the backs.  They again were
easy to fix, so I'd encourage you to go for it yourself and save a few
bucks.
