Andy,
I has previously used FRAM PH-16 filters prior to switching to the NAPA
Gold 1374 (smaller)  THe FRAM fit ok but was hard to get off because it
was so large that I couldn't bet my hand around it for leverage.  It was
up against the suspension upright.  Of coursr, I have no Air pump, so
that gives credence to your assumption.
