Dear List:

Recently I acquired a Gt6+. I am finding it hard to shift gears with it
though.

Reverse - No problem
First - No problem
Second - Shifts, gearshift lever violently bumps up and down on
Acceleration/deacceleration
Third - Hard to shift into, have to really push the gearshift, then it
pops&grinds into gear. As soon as you're off the gas, it pops out unless
you hold it in.
Fourth - Usually no problem, sometimes will grind.

When I shift, I've tried pushing the pedal just most of the way, instead of
how I usually do (as far as the pedal goes-makes no difference though). I
only have to push the clutch pedal about 1/3 -> 1/2 before the gearbox
disengages.

I recently took the car in for it's safety, and my mechanic who drove
(neither my triumph specialist, nor really a gearbox specialist) said the
problem was probably that the clutch fork was bent, or that the PPO may
have shifted gears without the clutch (is that possible?). The
transmission was supposedly recently rebuilt.

Anybody have an idea where the problem is? Also, how much work would be
involved in solving the problem/technical experience required.

Thanks,
Steve Reilly
