I just contacted a friend who had looked up (and bought ) the PPG colors
via PPG's computer database.(different source)
They list 6 different carmine reds... but only one matched the MG codes.
The one he purchased (by code) matched his car (trunk interior) very well.

I'd recommend some caution about simply ordering paints based on numbers or
names. Those numbers
and names get screwed up over time, and other makers use the same name to
describe different colors.

My Spitfire is inca yellow. This is a nice bright yellow, not the baby puke
inca yellow that PPG sells, which is a
different manufacturer (GM?) inca yellow. Triumph no longer exists, so guess
who's name designation of a
pretty shade of yellow got screwed up?

The PPG red and grey for my tractor are also wrong, even though PPG was
originally the paint supplier to
Ford for my tractor. The red has been changed to the "modern" New Holland Ford
red, which is far to orange. The grey has lost its green hue and is now sold
as two different shades (with the same number) that are
completely wrong, battle ship grey and light grey.

So, be carefull about simply ordering a paint because it's the right name or
number.

Pick up any issue of Hemmings, you will find several
vendors that will supply you with spray cans of any
paint you need.
You'll also discover that just about any part or
supply is available, if you are willing to pay enough
for it.
