There was at least one Cortina raced in England with a 289 Ford engine. As I
recall, one was raced by Doc Merfield and was called the Fraud Cortina. There
was a well-known XKE raced there in the 1960's with a 427 Ford engine called
the Egal, for "E-type Galaxy". Some other Engish engine swaps included
several Ford-V-8 engined Capris, a big-block Chevy powered Corvair, a
big-block Chevy powered XJ-6 Jag and, my favorite, a Ford Cosworth
DFV-powered VW fastback!
