Bearing Hubs

Postby mikecouch54 » Thu Jul 15, 2010 3:36 pm

I continbue to have to replace rear bearings on my 1960 Bugeye with wore wheels. I believe its due to work hubs but I can't find replacements. Does anyone know of a source for Sprite rear bearing hubs for wire wheels? Winners Circle has a great double bearing replacement but it only fits non-wires. Any other suggestions to solve this problem would be appreciated. Sleeves?

You can modify the Winners Circle, or anyone elses, double bearing wire wheel hub by drilling and tapping a hole for the posidrive screw that secures the wire wheel hub extension. However, it's probable, as was the case on my car, that you'll need to weld up an existing large hole (part of the design) of the double bearing hub to be able to drill and tap that smaller hole.
