Charles. This is the perfect time to change the fluid in the transmission. Also
as you will have the clutch plate out you might want to change the pilot
bushing. As far as the tunnel is concerned I replaced mine last year. At the
same time I covered it with a heat shield padding. This has helped tremendously
with heat and has cut down on the noise. The only drawback was that when
replacing the console it was a real tight fit and I had to put my full weight on
it (due to the width of both carpet and heat shield) to push down far enough to
get the top under the dash. Also remember to drill the hole for the wires that
connect for your reverse lights.
