Mike-just a few more thoughts about blocks&heads.Blocks after cc75000 have
recesses around the top of the cyl. bores and must be used with the later
type head gasket. One of the block numbers you gave had a CT prefix, I think
it should have been CC.
According to Kastner's comp. prep. manual, 8.5 CR heads are 3.460" thick.
The intake port spacing will be different from the 2 later style heads&will
require an early intake manifold gasket. The 7.75 CR head will be noticeably
thinner and the 7.5 one even thinner. Also, the 2 later style heads use dual
valve springs and the exhaust valve is different in size from the 8.5 CR
