Hi Dick!

Always good o hear from you!  It's fairly simple to swap out and play mix
'n match with the electronic ignition and MSD, and it is definately the
MSD.  Since my post, I've made sure it wasn't something silly like no
power or a bad ground or radio noise supressor.  It will spark the coil,
but VERY infrequently.  The car's speed seems the same with the points
installed, but the exhaust is much more smelly, and the car wants to die
at idle on hot days.  

I keep a "points kit" for just such occasions, including the Lucas .015"
feeler gauge!  The kit also contains the purple bypass wires you
mentioned.
