It's been a long time for me, like in doing 3's and 4's. The way we always did
 it was to blow compressed air, with a blow gun type thing into the brake
fluid fitting hole. If they need more persuasion, take the caliper apart and
blow air into the fluid passage between the calipers - you'll have to plug the
hole for the brake fluid line. May have to heat the caliper if they are really
stuck.

A word of advice or WARNING, if the piston is pointed up, keep your head and
other body parts outta the way. Choose an area with a high/no ceiling or one
you don't really care about. When the piston leaves it has some serious
momentum. Upon hearing the bang RUN so you won't be in the impact zone when
gravity prevails.
