Nick---You've pretty much given your timing setup the acid test. If you
(or anyone else) do not hear any pinging at the conditions you've
stated, it's not likely that you'd have detonation at higher rpms.

You wouldn't want to retard the timing too much either, as it reduces
power. Idling at 950 rpm @4 deg. BTDC sounds about right, given your
mods. Dial in more advance, if you can get away with it. So much depends
on the octane rating and ambient temperatures...
