Brian---It might be a close call to do it that way, but a dial indicator
AND a degree wheel on the crank should at least tell you if the cam is
stock or an S2 grind. The S2 would start opening up #1 intake valve, or
lifting the pushrod in this case, for example, at 35 deg. BTDC.  Stock
cams don't start opening till 18 or 10 deg. BTDC. A "dummy pushrod"
would come in handy here, wouldn't it?!  If you were very familiar with
the engine and knew exactly where TDC is, it might be possible to
measure cams with less difference between them.
