Or you can sandblast ( or prefereably bead blast) them and paint them with
an aluminum paint as a lot of restorers seem to do. You have to paint them
with some clear at least or they won't stay very nice and it wouldn't do
much good giving them too good of a cleaning.

I'm in the middle of a rear brake overhaul, and since I want to clean up the
trailing arm assemblies, what color should they be? Natural aluminum or
black? Looks like mine is a little of both at the moment ;-)

What kind of paint if any is appropriate here?
