My understanding is that only the very early cars (250's and '69 6's) had
non-adjustable needles. You can tell by looking into the dashpot opening.
If the top edge of the needle carrier has two notches that are 180 from each
other, then they are adjustable. The notches are for the adjustment tool to
fit into. Non adjustable carbs can be fitted with adjustable needles by
replacing the air valve, needle, and carrier. Mine were converted using
parts from a '72 donor car. The buckeye site has really nice info about the
whole subject.
BTW anyone heard from Swarthout lately?
