Wise listers,

I've found an '83 Volvo 240 wagon (parts car) with o/d. This car uses the J
type overdrive unit, and appears externally to be the same unit as the TR6.
Has anyone "been there done that" and can confirm this unit can be used in a
TR6 application? I'm concerned there may be some differences of which I'm
unaware (different input/output shaft splines, etc.) that could cause
problems. I have an excellent gearbox and I wouldn't mind installing a new
mainshaft and used adapter to convert to overdrive.

Anyone have a used adapter plate for a J type they don't need? This part
does not appear to be available new.

I realize the later Volvos (85 and up I think) that used the J type would
not have the connection for the speedo cable as the later Volvos used an
electronic speedometer.
