Hi,

Presuming that you have a mostly stock TR6 tranny, I can say with some
authority that I'll bet your problem is gearing. All other factors aside,
the jump from 2nd to third (5200 second drops way down to about 3500 in
3rd, if I recall correctly) - so this puts you in an unfavorable situation
on the wrong part of the torque curve.

I'll bet if you had a close ratio gear set, that the situation would have
been less unforable to you.

Please stay safe out there, I highly recommend driving event sanctioned by
large bodies such as SCCA, NHRA, NASA etc. These would be more
"controlled" events than closed roads present.

BTW, nothing comes for free, so the drawback with the C/R gears is that
1st (C/R) is more like second on a stock box, so you need to change to
4.10 gears or 4.33 gears to get a better overall package of gearing. BUT -
boy can you accelerate when you have the gears. Yeeee ha!
