        Mike:

Just got mine running decently yesterday morning! It has been
running for a couple
of weeks, but has had a rough idle and not much power.
My bypass valves were misadjusted bigtime, and I had a vacuum
leak through
the carbon canister.
Your machine shop bill is very close to mine, although I did not
do hardened
seats. I figure $2,000 for the overhaul. But it sure does run nice!
Helps when you
get rid of all the vacuum leaks!

        Vance

Removed Pertronix this morning and installed points. Starts easier and
eliminated some hesitation and cutting out at around 3 grand. Still
idles rough
but getting better. BTW the rockers are 1.6to1 with .250 lift and 280
duration.
Set timing at 4 degrees ATDC dynamic. CR is 9.5to1. All new stainless

valves, hardened seats, hardened lifters, heavy duty pushrods. .20 over
pistons.
Total machine shop bill was $700. I am afraid to add up the parts bill.
Its supposed to get close to 80 degrees here in the Portland/Vancouver
area
tomorrow so I should get some real quality drive time on the beast.
