As far as getting them off...take about a 4-6" bolt &
put it through one of the engine plate holes...take a
pry bar & wedge it between one of the ring gear teeth
& the bolt...works great!

I haven't used any loctite, but if/when I do it again,
I probably will.  Heard too many scary hi-rev harmonic
stories
