Phil----These are sensitive little buggers. "Pontoon" bulbs and the
sockets that carry power to it are easily disturbed. To see if power
gets to the socket, take a test light to the two wires. (p & p/w) If no
power here, follow the purple wire back to the harness pin connector at
the driver's foot well.If you don't have this harness connection, then
follow the wire back to the fuse box.
More likely the problem is either in the trunk switch itself, the bulb
socket, or the pontoon bulb. All of these can be checked with a test
light or an ohmmeter, if necessary
Once all is well, you can tell if you now have a trunk light by holding
a match up to it.
