There is some racing history in "The Triumph TR5/250 and TR6 Companion" boo=
k by Steven Rossi and Ian Clarke. It's not as detail as one might like but =
there are 20 pages with pictures devoted to the subject. It's at least a st=
art.

Best I can tell, Paul Newman won the 1976 SCCA D Production championship in=
a TR6, beating the factory TR7.=C2=A0 That was Newman Haas Racing, not Gro=
up 44.=C2=A0 Rumor has it that he purchased the car from Group 44 car as th=
ey had moved on to Jaguars I think.=C2=A0 That=E2=80=99s all I can find.=20

There is a guy in the St. Louis region, Dennis Wilson (no, not the Beach Bo=
y) who raced a TR6 in the late 70's at a time the factory was running a TR7=
(TR6 was out of production at this time).=C2=A0 He had film footage of a r=
ace where he was leading a race with a factory Porsche 924 hot on his tail.=
=C2=A0 One lap to go and Dennis lost a section of tire tread and the Porsch=
e slipped by.=C2=A0 The commentary was hilarious.=C2=A0 The play-by-play gu=
ys were incredulous that this dowager TR6, a car designed in the 50's, was =
beating Porsche's latest offering.=C2=A0 And he would have had the tire hel=
d together.=20

 =C2=A0

Also, all the while the factory TR7 was a close third.

 =C2=A0

I checked You Tube but I could not find that film posted.=C2=A0 But if you =
look up Wilson Motors, that's the guy.

 =C2=A0

Didn't Paul Newman race a TR6 at one point?=C2=A0 Group 44?
