When I restored the Series 3, and swapped over parts from the Series V, I
found a number of things that were not the same. In this area, I found
that the aluminum threshold strips, the long ones, which fit just fine on
my SV, were too long for the S3. I don't know the cause. But, it appeared
that the bottom part was the same length, but the part that ran up towards
the back of the door opening was too long. Is it possible that the doors
and door openings were actually different lengths? Since there are not
that many S3's out there, there might not be too many people who have tried
to put a later door on a S3, or put a S3 door on a later car, for that
matter. My door panels did seem to fit fine.
