Here is an interesting comment on shimming oil pressure springs to raise
pressure from a non-Alpine person:
Well of course the max. oil temp when warm is set by one of the pressure
regulators. (When cold, the oil pressure is higher simply because it
doesn't get through the pressure regulator easily.) If the regulator
spring is made stiffer or shimmed, that will raise the limiting pressure
- the max with warm oil when the revs are up. But it won't help or
affect anything under limiting - such as low pressure caused by thin oil
and/or loose tolerances at low rpm.
