Thanks to the people that responded to my query about the accelerator pedals
for RHD and LHD cars, esp. to Jan for sending me scans of the pedals! The
result is that the pedals for S1 & II are different for LHD/RHD. The design
of the pedal changed for S3, and the new type is the same for LHD/RHD. (BTW
- My car is S3)
This information did me no good in the long run however :-( The used LHD
pedal that I found here in Australia turned out to be in the same condition
as mine (broken off at the rubber mount, worn where the roller touches the
back of the pedal).
I thought that a Humber of similar vintage would use the same pedal, but the
Vogue and Hawks that I checked in a nearby wreckers also had different
pedals. Amazing that Rootes didn't standardise these things across their
range.
