The battery was charged but their were problems starting. Slow turning
and clicking noices. Sometimes it would quickly come to life and idle.
Upon driving, it would just lose all power and die. Then jump start and
died during idling. Finally towed it home and set on slow charge and
sometimes it would fire up and other times not. It is not consistent and
am wondering if it could be the alternator, voltage regulator, etc.
Cables are clean and battery has been tested at the shop and was given
the OK. Any ideas? Brent SV

How is your ground strap that attaches to the transmission
support? A bad connection could cause these symptoms. I had another
brand of car that suffered the same symptoms and it was the ground
strap. Try using a jumper cable as a quick test bypass to the ground
strap. It seems that even if your alternator was bad, a good fully
charged battery should start the car easily and run well for a while.
I've driven all day with no alternator.
Also, have you tried swapping batteries, say from your family
sedan? Just as a final test to see if the battery really is good?
