Eric,

I think you will have to use a late distributor for an easy fix
to this issue.

I have seen spacer adapters that allow the earlier distributor to
be used on a late "SV" oil pump/camgear, but these have to be made
and require rather precise machining that most garage machinist cant do.

Subject: Oil pump distributor question

I recently got a serV oil pump with ser II distributor/cam gear installed on
it from smitty.

My question is this: Is there a reason why provided I have the right 12
tooth gear installed why the top portion of the shaft is not coming up far
enough to engage the distributor?

This is my second attempt at installation. Smitty gave me the wrong gear
the first time.

Everything else seems fine with the installation.

Any and all help appreciated.

Thanks again
Eric
