Hi Jan,

Yes there were more around back then, time has taken some ravages.  Another
factor is that Canberra has more than tripled in population since about 1972
when Rootes cars were virtually off the market in Aus, so Rootes cars
remaining from that time are spread thin. Also, Canberra is more affluent
than many other parts of the country so people bought newer cars more often
and the old ones were often sold off outside the city.

Early this year at the annual gathering of old cars, among the hundreds of
vehicles there were I think 7 Rootes cars, all Humbers (1960s Super Snipes
and Vogues) from the same club.  On the plus side, because of our climate,
if you find a local Rootes car here it is likely to have very little rust.
